    On Thursday, October 25, 2012 Seamen’s Society held its Black & White Gala at the Vanderbilt at South Beach. This year’s Save Harbor Award honorees were Richmond County Savings Foundation, Staten Island Foundation and P.S. 19 in West Brighton. Over 225 guests were in attendance where they dined, danced, enjoyed musical entertainment and participated in a silent auction.

    Scholarship Reunion
    Scholarship Reunion

    On Tuesday, January 8, 2013 Seamen’s Society held its 3rd annual scholarship reunion at our headquarters. Nine scholarship recipients currently attending college and who were home for winter break joined donors, staff and board members for ...a casual and enjoyable dinner. The atmosphere was completely informal. Everyone present exchanged life experiences, successes and ongoing challenges that they face today. The evening was a success and everyone is looking forward to next year’s reunion

Bios of Key Personnel

Nancy Vomero, MBA, CPA

President/CEO

Nancy a native Staten Islander, has been with the agency for over 13 years; serving as Chief Financial Officer for 8 years and 5 years in her current position. Nancy received her undergraduate degree in Accounting from the College of Staten Island and her Masters in Business Administration from Wagner College. She is a licensed Certified Public Accountant. Ms. Vomero has served as the President and Treasurer of the Seton Foundation for Learning Parent’s Guild. She served as a presenter for the SCORE high school programs, Treasurer and vestry member of the Church of St. Andrew and President and Treasurer of the Monsignor Farrell Family Association as well as volunteering with other community organizations. Currently she sits on the board of Community Resources and is a member of the Development and Community Relations Committee.

Gina Cambria, LMSW

Sr. VP/COO

Gina R. Cambria, LMSW, is the Senior Vice President/Chief Operating Officer at Seamen’s Society for Children and Families located in Staten Island, NY.

Ms. Cambria comes to Seamen’s Society with over 25 years experience working in the New York City Child Welfare System.  Ms. Cambria is a graduate of Brooklyn College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology.  She is a graduate of Long Island University with a Master’s Degree in Education and she also possesses a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Hunter College.

Anna Opsha

VP/CFO

Anna joined Seamen’s Society as VP/CFO in September 2010. She received her BS in Accounting from Brooklyn College and is a licensed Certified Public Accountant. Anna’s work experience includes Loeb and Troper and BDO Seidman where she was a Senior Auditor before coming to Seamen’s Society.

Phyllis Birmingham-Davide

VP of Human Resources

Phyllis a native Staten Islander, joined Seamen’s Society as the Director of Human Resources in July 2007. Phyllis came to Seamen’s Society with over 15 years of Human Resources experience. Formerly she managed the St. Vincent’s Hospital Regional Compensation Program for 3500 employees.
