HOW YOU CAN HELP

There are a number of ways that you can help make a difference in the life of a child - from giving your time to giving your financial support.

A. GIVING YOUR TIME

1. Become a Foster Parent: We are always looking for new foster parents who live in the Community Districts (CD) we serve on Staten Island and in Brooklyn. To find out if you live in a community where we need foster parents or to find a foster care agency in the community where you live you can e-mail us at Become a Foster Parent.

2. Tutor a Child: We need volunteers to provide tutoring to our school age children and youth. Volunteers from the community, and students from high schools and colleges provide this help. Tutoring is one-on-one and in small groups at our different offices after school. Children benefit from having someone spend time helping them focus on their school work. B. GIVING FINANCIAL SUPPORT

1. Sponsor a Scholarship: Our youth qualify for scholarship assistance to attend college or vocational school through funds raised in the community. A $1,000 donation lets you name a scholarship for your familiy, in memory of a loved one, or for your organization. You are invited to the Scholarship Dinner in July to meet the recipient of your scholarship. 2. Support our Existing Programs: Target your donation to a program described on our web site that you are particularly interested in helping with.

3. Contribute to the Capital Campaign: Help us make a new home at 50 Bay Street. Donations to the Capital Campaign are tax deductible, matched by a grant from the SI Bank & Trust Foundation and qualify for a special tax credit worth 25% of the donation. Information about the Capital Campaign is found in the Latest News page of this web site.

C. HOW TO MAKE A DONATION

You can make a donation by sending a check to: Seamen's Society for Children and Families, 50 Bay Street, Staten Island, NY 10301-1827 Attn: Development Office.

Or you can click on to the secure link below to Just Give.Org to make a donation by credit card. Just Give is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to connect people with the charities and causes they care about and to increase overall giving.

A letter acknowledging your donation will be mailed to you and your donation will be included in our next Annual Report. All donations are tax deductible according to IRS Guidelines. Seamen's Society for Children and Families is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) charitable organization.
